Paneer Tikka Tacos Recipe
Paneer Tikka Tacos combine Indian flavors with a Mexican twist. Marinated paneer, spicy veggies, and creamy sauces are wrapped in soft tortillas for a delicious fusion dish.
Ingredients
For Paneer Tikka:
Paneer (cottage cheese) – 200 g, cubed
Yogurt – 1/4 cup
Ginger-garlic paste – 1 tsp
Red chili powder – 1 tsp
Turmeric powder – 1/4 tsp
Coriander powder – 1 tsp
Garam masala – 1/2 tsp
Chaat masala – 1/2 tsp
Lemon juice – 1 tbsp
Kasuri methi (dried fenugreek leaves) – 1 tsp (optional)
Salt – to taste
Oil – 1 tbsp
For the Tacos:
Tortillas (soft taco shells) – 6 small
Onion – 1, thinly sliced
Bell peppers (red, yellow, green) – 1 cup, thinly sliced
Cabbage or lettuce – 1 cup, shredded
Mint chutney – 1/4 cup
Yogurt or sour cream – 1/4 cup
Tamarind chutney – 2 tbsp
Cheese – 1/2 cup, grated (optional)
Instructions
Step 1: Marinate the Paneer
1. In a bowl, mix yogurt, ginger-garlic paste, red chili powder, turmeric, coriander powder, garam masala, chaat masala, lemon juice, kasuri methi, and salt.
2. Add paneer cubes to the marinade and mix gently to coat. Let it rest for 20–30 minutes.
Step 2: Cook the Paneer Tikka
1. Heat oil in a pan or grill.
2. Cook the marinated paneer on medium heat until golden brown and slightly charred on all sides. Remove and set aside.
Step 3: Prepare the Vegetables
1. In the same pan, sauté sliced onions and bell peppers until slightly soft but still crunchy.
Step 4: Assemble the Tacos
1. Warm the tortillas on a pan or grill.
2. Spread a layer of mint chutney and yogurt or sour cream on each tortilla.
3. Add shredded cabbage or lettuce, sautéed vegetables, and paneer tikka.
4. Drizzle tamarind chutney and sprinkle grated cheese if using.
Step 5: Serve
1. Fold the tortillas into tacos and serve immediately.
2. Pair with extra chutneys or a side of spiced yogurt for dipping.
Tips for Perfect Paneer Tikka Tacos
For extra smoky flavor, grill the paneer on a barbecue or over an open flame.
You can use whole wheat or flavored tortillas for a healthier or more creative option.
Add guacamole or salsa for a more pronounced Mexican twist.
